OK. Up until 1:00 a.m. again but it was worth it. I’m working with a small team of Chinese programmers in Beijing on the Bulk Email Server. We got it working just fine last night. I have asked them to provide the complete ability to run a full POP3/SMTP system from it. They told me it can be done and said they would try to get that operational for me today or tomorrow. I hope so! If they do this, it means we can issue an unlimited number of email accounts to anyone we want! As an example, if he’s successful (I’ll find out late tonight) we’ll be able to offer an email account with the domain “xxxxx@globaltmailusa.com” to all Associates who want a custom email account to go with their GTM business. I think this would be useful for a lot of people. Drop me a comment below if you would like to get one of these company-sponsored email accounts. Also, I worked with our ISP yesterday and have to follow up today. They place a severe restriction on the number of emails we can send per hour (1,000). Of course we cannot have a restriction like this. I’ll be talking to their competitor down the street who has offered us a 50/50 connection (fiber optic Internet service with 50 meg upload and 50 meg download guaranteed). This is a better service, but it’s not available here at my office. I would have to locate at least some of our servers in their data room. This is actually a pretty good idea and something we have decided to do anyway, just don’t know if “now” is the right time or not.
Today we should be ready to make the first test calls from our upgrade efforts during the past 8 days. This is phenomenal progress! I’m going to put together a test group of people that we know personally, who don’t mind getting a number of test calls over the next several days as we work to debug the system we’re putting into place. If you’d like to be on this test list, hit the comment link below and let me know. I’ll be glad to add you into that mix. I need about twenty volunteers to help in the test group. When getting these test calls you don’t really need to do anything except answer the calls when you can. Even when you don’t answer the test calls it’s good because there are a number of routines we need to monitor regarding call flow and call handling for calls that go to an answering machine, result in no answer or hit a busy signal.
I’ve got 2 sales meetings today, one at 10:00 am online and the other is a face-to-face meeting at 1:00 pm. So, I won’t get very much technical work done until tonight. But I expect I’ll make some good progress in the evening. I might even stage the first bulk emailing for tonight or tomorrow. I’m planning to start more aggressive contact with our own user database soon now that we have the facility operational to do it on a regular basis.
